Hiking

Gresse en Vercors: a paradise for hikers

A true paradise for hikers, Gresse en Vercors offers the best views on the outstanding scenery of the Vercors Natural Regional Park.
Please ask us for advice: we will suggest different hiking trails to fit your preferences and your level.

Hiking in the Vercors High Plateaux nature reserve

The « Pas de la Ville » pass takes you onto the Vercors High Plateaux.  You will have reached the heart of the biggest terrestrial nature reserve in mainland France. You will be hiking in a unique wild environment that deserves respect and protection.

The « Grandes traversées du Vercors » (GTV) is an organisation regrouping professionals (accomodation, rental shops, guides, taxis...) who wish to make your touring in the Vercors Natural Regional Park as easy as possible. You can travel accross the Vercors by foot, on a mountain bike, by horse or with donkeys, as well as on snowshoes, skis or dog sleds .

Marking and maintenance of trails

All trails are marked and looked after by the Vercors Regional Natural Park and Monestier de Clermont local authority.

The Vercors Regional Natural Park trails are marked with a yellow line and a green line. The Long Distance Footpath trails (Grande Randonnée / GR) are marked in red and white, the Local Long Distance Footpath trail (Grande Randonnée de Pays) in white and red.

Hiking posts are placed in all main crossroads. They will let you know where you are located (place name and altitude) and in which direction you can go (distance and time to the next crossroad).

Hiking with a guide

Walking with a mountain guide will add to your hiking experience.  Guides know all wildlife, flora, history and geology of the area off by heart. They will gladly share their passion with you.
